2008 Event #9 - No-Limit Texas Hold'em

We had one of our better turnouts with nineteen players at the felt. Play was relatively civil with our first elimination happening an hour and a half into the tournament when Pat Doherty went All-In against Jeff Hicks and could not hook a second pair and was sent home in nineteenth. The next two eliminations were bang-bang with Kathy Vranek eliminated by Mike Cummings at table three and almost simultaneously Sal Rossolille eliminated by Ken Vranek, with that we were down to two tables. The action seemed to be at table two with the next two eliminations being there as Jeff Aiani was sent packing by Ken Vranek and shortly after John Kern's kings could not hold up against the A-Q of Vince Renella as Vince spiked an ace and John could not find a king. Level six brought a flury of knockouts since the small stacks couldn't sit idle as the blinds hit 500/1000 and the ante was 200. Mike Cummings was the next victim as Knud Dahlgaard hit the straight and Mike was gone. Twenty minutes later Mike Sible was gone at the hands of Vince and Knud took down John Beyer, but with six minutes left in the level Kristina saw her tournament life ended by Vince. Play settled down for almost an hour until Shawn Brown went All-in against Tony Broaddus and Shawn's pair couldn't hold as Tony hit a king and Shawn was gone. That brought us to the final table bubble and I found myself All-in against Jeff Hicks with a straight draw and over cards to Jeff's pair of nines, the nines held and Jeff collected the bounty on my head. That set up the final table, starting with seat one, Pat Hayes, Iain Wilson, Jeff Proctor, Vince Renella, Tony Broaddus, Jeff Hicks, Knud Dahlgaard and Ken Vranek. The chip leaders were Ken and Knud with Vince close behind, but this did not seem to matter as Vince saw his chips disapear into Knud's and Jeff Hicks' stacks as they chopped the pot. A half hour later Tony was All-in against Ken with KK vs QQ, but the turn was cruel and Tony's kings were busted and he was out in seventh. Level ten brought us 3000/6000 blinds and a 500 ante and a couple of eliminations. Jeff Proctor couldn't over come Jeff Hicks and was out in sixth, the money bubble was busted. Knud went All-in fifteen minutes later and was looked up by Ken and Knud was gone in fifth. Level eleven seemed to be the level in which the stacks couldn't sit idle with blinds increasing to 4000/8000 500 ante, with four remaining Iain was the next to go All-in and Pat took him down for a fourth place finish. The next hand Jeff Hicks was All-in against Ken but came up short and like that we were down to two. Ken had a dominating lead and in ten minutes we had our final hand of the night. Ken (dealer) (28.6%) raised on the button and Pat (68.8%) went ALL-IN and Ken called but was not happy to see only one live card, likewise Pat was not happy to see half of his outs taken away. The flop was very kind to Ken (91.2%) as it flopped and Pat (8.8%) was down to a runner runner diamond or the case eight. With the turn of and a river Pat was out and finished in second. Congrats to Ken for outdueling eighteen other combatants and winning his second of the year. With this event we have an additional four players qualified for the Main Event with Ken, Kathy, Knud and Jeff Hicks joining in. The next event is July 18th and we will be playing Pot-limit Omaha, this is sure to be an action tournament. For now I am headed to Vegas and the WSOP, see you next month.

2008 Event #8 - Pot-Limit Omaha Hi/Lo 8 or Better

We had a surprising sixteen players show for the battle on the felt, being a split game there was sure to be allot of action. As it happened the Main table was the crazy one while Table 2 was more subdued. The first four eliminations were at the Main Table starting with Jeff Proctor being eliminated in the first or second hand by myself when Jeff flopped two pair and I flopped the nut straight, Jeff didn't improve and was sent home early. Only fifteen minutes later Jeff was joined by Don Devoe, as Knud Dahlgaard became a runaway train catching hand after hand on his way to becoming the early chip leader. The Main table was not done as a crazy hand took place with three All-ins and Knud making the call, Steve Whitecotton raised All-in post flop and I came back over the top with another All-in and Pat Hayes made the call for his tournament life as well as Knud, but he had everyone else covered. Unfortunately for Knud I had the nut high and low and Knud only had the nut low and ended up being quartered, but even with the hit Knud was still the chip leader. If you wanted to play a hand Knud was sure going to make it for everything you had in front of you if you wanted to play, so needless to say it was a very action packed game. Finally after an hour and a half into the game Table 2 had it's first elimination and John Beyer got it All-in against Mike Cummings but fell short and Mike scooped the pot. Just before nine-thirty Kathy Vranek was sent packing looking for the cash game at the hands of Jeff Aiani and another Main table elimination. Mike Sible just could not get things going and was sent to the rail in tenth place at the hands of Mike Cummings. That brought us to needing but one elimination to consolidate tables and of course the Main Table was more than happy to ablige as Shawn Brown just couldn't withstand another All-in against Knud, Shawn must have been All-in over a dozen times but could not scoop a pot so he just could not build a decent chip stack. Our final Table came together as follows, Chuck Hayes, Jeff Aiani, John Kern, Iain Wilson, Knud Dahlgaard, Ken Vranek, Kristina Schultz and Mike Cummings. Ken however could not hold on and was eliminated by Mike in eigth place. Knud lost a couple large pots and found himself short stacked and All-in against Kristina, but could not hold on and saw his tournament life ended as Kistina quietly built up a monster chip lead. With a monster chip stack she was not done as John Kern got it in with top two pair on the flop but the board paired and Kristina claimed another victim with a higher two pair, neither had a low hand. I got it All-in and was looked up by Jeff and his pair of queens vs my low draw but I misssed the low but picked up a second pair for the win and a scoop pot, but Jeff ended up crippled with about three thousnad left. Jeff threw them in on the next hand and was against three others and Jeff lost at the hands of myself. Play tightened up as the betting reached a ten thousand big blind, Kristina had more chips than the other three players combined but as play progressed Mike and I were able to chip alittle from her and then Iain got it All-in and could not hold off Kristina, and like that he was gone in fourth. With play being three handed stealing was a necessity, but I got caught when I turned two pair and Kristina hit the nut flush and she took me down and the twenty dollar bounty on my head. That left Mike heads up with Kristina 'Widowmaker' Schultz and she had a monster chip lead, but Mike was not ready to give up. After a couple scoop pots Mike found himself in the lead and the tables were turned on Kristina. With the blinds at 7500/15000 and a 1000 ante our final hand came down with Kristina (Dealer/Small Blind) (42%Hi/13%Lo) and Mike (57%Hi/39%Lo) holding , Kristina is behind and needing a favorable flop. Flop comes just what Mike (54%Hi/72%Lo) was looking for and Kristina (45%Hi/0%Lo) is in the lead for high but her hand needs to hold up against Mike just to chop if there is a low. Unfortunately the turn is and Mike (55%Hi/100%Lo) makes the low and the lead for the high and Kristina needs a non-club second pair or a five, but the river brings the and Mike scoops the pot and takes down the championship, not bad for his virgin tournament in the Ho-Chuck Poker Room. Congrats to Mike on his first win and we hope to see him more often, especially next game since there is a bounty on his head as well as mine at the next game. Our next tournament is June 20th and is No-Limit Texas Hold'em, hope to see a big crowd as this one is always an action game.

2008 Event #7 - Limit Razz

We had eleven players show up at the felt to battle it out for the Razz championship. We started with fifteen thousand chips so the play went awhile before the first elimination, which occured when I went ALL-IN and Mike Wiedmaier called and Shawn Brown joined the hand but was covered by three hundred, when the hand finished Shawn had a 6-5 low but was against my 6-4 low and I tripled up and Shawn was the first one eliminated after two and a half hours of play. After loosing the hand in which I doubled up, Mike was hit with two bad beats and found himself on the rail at the hands of Knud Dahlgaard who seamed to catch cards all night. Mike was shortly followed by Jeff Aiani, Jeff went ALL-IN and I called just hoping I could catch up, I ended up with a full house for a high leaving me with a pair of aces for the low, Jeff unfortunately had a pair of twos for his low and that sent Jeff packing with a sick beat. That left us looking for one last player elimination for the final table of seven, Stevie Hay was the one to find himself on the outside looking in when he was eliminated by John Kern. Our final table saw myself, John Kern, Jeff Proctor, Mike Sible, John Beyer, Knud Dahlgaard and Iain Wilson, with having a 300 ante, 700 bring-in, 1500 small bet and 3000 big bet. Iain came over with a short stack and was eliminated within a half hour by John Beyer. After the second break John Kern was eliminared when he could not get a small card after sitting on a 5 high with three cards to come. Jeff Proctor was also a short stack at the table but he quickly got healthy but finally saw his night come to an end at the hands of Mike Sible. That elimination did not help Mike enough as he was the next to go out on the bubble at the hands of myself just after midnight. That left myself, John and Knud in the money and fighting it out for the ounce of silver and the championship, I found myself with a run of good cards and built up a huge chip lead, John and Knud would basicaly be ALL-IN if they played, John did go all-in a couple times and was able to double up but with the bets being so large he found himself at an all-in stage again, finally after doubling John up three times I was able to eliminate him in third place and collect the bounty on his head. That left Knud and myself and Knud was not in good shape, after the ante and bring-in he was left with less than the small bet so he went ALL-IN in hopes to double up, but his luck ran out and I won the hand and the tournament with a 9-6 high for the low. The defense of the Razz championship was complete an I became the two time Razz Champion and the current league leader. For the Main Event we have added Jeff Proctor to the qualifing pool of players and currently have six qualified and many with just one tournament needed to qualify. The next tournament will be Omaha Hi/Lo 8 or better on June 6th with a buy-in of fourty dollars, hope you can make it.

2008 Event #6 - No-Limit Texas Hold'em w/Re-buys

We had seventeen players to fight it out on the felt and two more players have qualified for the Main Event. In the first hour there was alot of action which brought about eleven re-buys and everyone adding on. The first player hit the skid at ten to nine when Scott Lucido felted Mike Patula. Right after Mike busted out Steve Whitecotton joined him at the hands of Pat Hayes but Pat was not done and he eliminated Jeff Proctor about twenty minutes later. Almost an hour and a half passed when we had a big hand in which two players were eliminated. Jeff Aiani had pocket queens, Shawn Brown had ace-queen suited and Knud made the call with ace-king and with a king on the flop Jeff and Shawn were drawing thin and the turn and river brought no help and both were sent to the rail. Just a minute later Jeff Hicks was eliminated at the other table and Stevie Hay collected the bounty. Shortly after Russ Roewer was eliminated by Knud Dahlgaard, Chad was sent packing by Pat Hayes and Mike Sible just missed the final table after being taken out by Stevie. With that our final table was set at about eleven o'clock with Chuck Hayes, Knud, Stevie, Scott, John Kern, Pat, Iain Wilson and John Beyer left to fight it out. I found myself short and went all-in and Pat called, I missed the board and Pat had a pair of eights to take me out in eighth. Play was moving rapidly as Iain was eliminated by John Kern, Stevie was taken out by Scott and John Beyer was sent to the rail by John Kern all within a half hour. Play continued to move as Knud was busted by John Kern in fourth place. This gave John a 2:1 chip lead over Scott and a 4:1 lead over Pat, but the angry pilgrim was not happy and busted out in third at the hands of Scott. This brought us to heads up play and our final hand only ten minutes later. With the blinds at 4000/8000 and an ante of 500, Scott (55.9%)was dealer and small blind, lead out with a raise and Pat (43.7%) called, the flop came and Pat (29.2%) bets but Scott (70.8%) goes ALL-IN and Pat calls but finds that he need a non pairing board club. The turn helps Pat (77.3%) and Scott (22.7%) needs the board to pair. The river is the and Scott fails to improve and Pat takes down the sixth event and over four hundred dollars. Congrats to Pat for his hard fought win. The bounties will be on John Beyer and Pat Hayes on May sixteenth at the Razz tournament, hope to see all of you there.

2008 Event #5 - No-Limit Crazy Pineapple

The night started with ten players vieing for this years crazy pineapple crown. The action was pretty fast playing five handed for the first couple of hours, then the ice was broke when John Kern miss-read the board and was eliminated by John Beyer at nine-thirty. With consolidation only one player away, Jeff Aiani saw his tournament come to an end thanks to Kathy Vranek. Now the final table was set with myself in seat one, John Beyer, Mike Sible, Steve Whitecotton, Kathy Vranek, Ken Vranek, Jeff Hicks and Jeff Proctor finishing the table. It did not take long before we saw the first elimination when Steve Whitecotton ran into Kathy and came out the wrong end, but Kathy was not done yet, about fifteen minutes later she eliminated John Beyer, then the next hand she took out me and with that she collected all the bounties for the night. The action was still furious and Mike Sible was eliminated twenty minutes later at the hands of Jeff Hicks, then ten minutes later Jeff Proctor was sent packing by Ken and the bubble had burst. This left Jeff Hicks versus the Vraneks, the eliminations slowed but the action was fast as the chips seamed to fly back and forth but all thing must come to an end and Kathy was ousted by Jeff at twelve-thirty. This left us heads up with Ken and Jeff going for the title, but it did not last long, just five minutes later we had our winner. Ken was the dealer with the blinds 4000/2000 and an ante of 500. Ken was dealt , and Jeff had , Ken being the aggressive guy pushed ALL-IN and Jeff had no trouble making the call. The flop came , Ken discarded his 2 and Jeff discarded the 4, leaving Ken needing runner-runner fives or a six, but the turn was and the river came , making Ken wish he kept the deuce and giving the championship to Jeff. Congrats to Jeff on his first season win. With this win Jeff and myself will have the bounties on our heads. This was also the fifth tournament and therefore the first chance to qualify for the Main Event, myself, John Beyer and Mike Sible have qualified and will certainly be there. Just a reminder that you must compete in five tournaments to qualify for the Main Event which is only one third of the events. The next game will be No-Limit Hold'em with Re-Buys and an Add-on, hope to see everyone there.

2008 Event #4 - Pot-Limit Hold'em Recap

Surprisingly we had twelve players at the tables battling it out. Pat Doherty was a little too aggressive and found himself on the ropes within fourty-five minutes to be the first elimination. The next elimination was a big hand between Jeff Proctor, Chad Pedke and myself, Jeff raised and Chad reraised, I inturn re-reraised pot, Jeff reraised All-In, Chad called and I raised All-In and Chad called and was All-In, I had both people covered. Jeff turned over 7-7, Chad had AKs, and I had QQ. The flop saw a Q in the door but Chad had a flush draw, the turn was a dagger to both when the case Q hit the board for quads and we were down to nine players. Play slowed for a while until Pat Hayes was eliminated by Jeff Hicks just after ten o'clock. That brought us to the final table and Jeff Hicks hit the bricks first when Knud Dahlgaard sent him packing. He was followed by another short stack of Sal Rossolille who also faced Knud in his final hand of the night. Play progressed for about an hour and then I finally got knocked out after being paralized for about five hands of All-ins, first I went all-in with 67 and was facing 77 but I flopped the straight and John caught up and caught a 6 on the river for a chop, I go All-in again and Knud follows with an All-in of his own but I have him slightly covered, I flop a pair and Knud rivers a higher pair, next hand I go All-in with 45 and the big blind has 85, the board comes all high cards and we chop again, finally I have 83 and the board comes trash and John has a Q high to take me out. Knud built up a nice stack but it wasn't enough when Beau took him out at a little after midnight. That left Joe Sierra, Beau Sierra, Mike Sible and John Beyer and the bubble, until Joe could not hold on anymore and was eliminated by John. Action moved pretty quickly and Mike was the next to go when he could'nt hold on anymore and was sent to the rail by John. That brought us to heads-up with John and Beau and the final hand. With the blinds at 4000/8000 with a 500 ante, John (65.9%) bets enough to put Beau (33.5%) All-in and Beau does not have much and makes the call. The flop comes and both have straight draws, the turn comes and the percentages are retively the same since Beau has a belly buster straight draw but the river was no help and John takes down his first victory of this year and is only a couple of points behind me in the standings. Both John and I will have a ten dollar bounty on our heads at the Crazy Pineapple tournament on April 4th. Congrats to John on his hard faught win and we wish everyone a Happy Easter.

2008 Event #3 Limit Seven Stud Recap

We had 15 players to fight it out for the seven stud championship tourney of 2008. It only took 45 minutes for the first elimination when John Beyer sent Ken Vranek to the rail, Ken just could not get anything going and did not win a hand on the night, but John was happy to collect the ten dollar bounty. About ten minutes later Brian Schmid joined Ken when he was eliminated by Kristina "Black Widow" Schultz, but the chips she won were not hers for long when Pat Hayes sent Kristina home about a half hour later. Kristina was quickly joined by her brother Jeff Hicks when Lee Pearson busted him less than ten minutes later. After the break Jeff Aiani who seemed to hit the bring in almost fifty percent of the time was ousted by John "The Angry Pilgrim" Kern a half hour after the break. After about another half hour John Beyer was sent to the rail by Kathy Vranek around ten o'clock, he was joined shortly by Mike Wiedmaier as Kathy continued her ways and kicked Mike out and collected the other bounty of the night. With that elimination we had our final table but Kathy was not done as she took out Iain Wilson in eighth place. This left Mike Sible one of the short stacks at the table, but Mike would not go quietly when he went ALL-IN and ended up boating and quadrupling his chip count, this was key since he also took out John Kern at the same time since he had John covered by a mere fifteen hundred chips. Ten minutes later Lee found himself relegated to the cash game when Jeff Proctor took him out. With the betting schedule at 2000-4000 it only took five minutes before Pat Hayes was sent packing next by Kathy, and the bubble was broken and we were in the money. Four handed the play seemed to slow and almost an hour later Mike Sible saw his tourney end when Jeff took him out as midnight approached. The blinds increased again and Kathy could not hold on anymore as Jeff's cards seemed to heat up, and this left Jeff and myself heads-up. The final hand was not very key but the hand before was when I got KK by third street and Jeff ended up with 444 on third street, with Jeff's board looking ragged I kept pushing the action not knowing how thin I was drawing, this hand left me with thirty-five hundred chips. With that the tourney was over at twelve-thirty and Jeff is on the board for 2008 in his first tourney this year. With this win Jeff will have the bounty on his head in Event #4 as will I for being league leader. The next event is March 14th and will be Pot-Limit Hold'em with a starting chip count of 15,000 chips. Hope everyone can come out for this one. Congrats again to Jeff on his well faught victory.

2008 Event #2 No-Limit Hold'em Recap

We had 16 players show up for the second tournament of the year of No-Limit Hold'em Re-Buy and also had three new players join us. During the first hour we had six rebuys and everyone purchased an Add-on at the end of the hour. As the night progressed we saw our first two players eliminated in the 5th level, Steve Whitecotton was eliminated almost the same time as Jeff Oltendorf around 10pm. Fifteen minutes later we had a monster hand in which three players were all-in. Iain had the rockets against Pat Hayes' jacks along with Mike Wiedmaier's sevens, the flop missed everyone but the turn spiked a seven and we had two more gone with no help on the river. The next eliminations came around 10:30 when Mike Wiedmaier eliminated Mike Sible, then eight minutes later Joe Sierra was sent packing thanks to Lee Pearson. Level seven saw Chad Pedke being eliminated by Alex Federici leaving nine players when John Beyer was KO'd by Mike Wiedmaier and our final table was set, except Lee Pearson was not done and eliminated Kathy Vranek in eighth place. We started our final table with seven players and I went all-in on a flush draw and hit it on the turn but was stunned to find Mike had the nut flush and Mike claimed the bounty that was on my head. Level eight Lee went on a little rampage eliminating John Kern and Brian Schmid which blew right through the bubble and the remaining players were in the money. Alex was eliminated in fourth by Mike at 12:30. Play slowed three handed for about an hour when Lee busted out in third at the hands of Ken Vranek. This left Mike and Ken heads-up when this hand finally fell five minutes later. The blinds were at 4000/8000 with a 500 ante. Mike (Sm Blind/Dealer) (21.3%) calls the blind and Ken (73.9%) checks, they see a flop of . Ken(96.5%) checks and Mike(0.3%) goes ALL-IN, Ken quickly calls and Mike is in need of a miracle. The turn is and it is over, Mike is drawing dead and Ken comes from way down to take the win. Congrats to Ken for his hard fought win. From here some of us head to Vegas for some fun in the 'City of Lights', the next game is February 22nd and we will be playing Seven Card Stud so practice up and we'll see you then.

2008 Hangover Hold'em / Event #1 Recap

The first game of the year saw 11 players competing in the 4th annual Hangover Hold'em Tournament which doubled as the first event for the 2008 league. As Illinois went down in flames, we had our own personal battles at the tables with Mike Sible hitting the rail first, seams Alex gave him a bad beat when he hit a runner-runner for the flush. Jim Kossakowski was the next victim followed shortly by Pat Doherty. The next players out were Chad Pedke, John Kern and Alex Federici who went all-in with a pocket pair of 3's and John Beyer looked him up and took him down. Dave Cerda took fifth once he found a hand he could play but it did not pan out for him as I took him out. Pat Hayes went out on the bubble and was taken out by John Beyer, this left John, Mike Wiedmaier and myself in the money. After I raised the pot Mike moved over the top and goes all-in, I had AJo and after a little thought I call and Mike turns over J10s, the board is no help and Mike takes 3rd. After taking Mike out our stacks were close to even as we headed into heads-up. John and I played about a dozen hands in which I took down the majority of them and that brings us to the final hand. John Beyer (Dealer) and Chuck Hayes (Sm Blind), the blinds are 4000/2000 with a 500 ante, John (49.5%) is short stacked and moves ALL-IN preflop and I (21.6%) calls. The flop comes and John(46.3%) is looking good and I(11.9%) am just hoping for a chop. The turn helps my(6.8%) cause, while John(34.1%) is hoping for a small card. But to our suprise the river brings the and I take the first win of the year. It was great to see everyone that played and play a little poker, the next game is this January 25th at 7PM, it will be NL Hold'em with Re-Buys and there will be a $20 bounty on my head. Take care everyone, see you soon.

2007 HOHO Event Recap

We had 15 players for the 3rd Annual HOHO Tournament. Once we got down to four players and were looking for the bubble person, play lasted for over an hour before Mike Wiedmaier was eliminated by Steve Whitecotton while playing Hold'em. From here play loosened up and it was over within twenty minutes. The next elimination was Chad Pedke as he was sent packing by Jeff Hicks. This left Jeff and Steve heads up as we switched games to Omaha and the tournament ended with Steve (Dealer)(54.8%) and Jeff (44.3%) , the blinds were 3000/6000 with a 500 ante. Steve calls and Jeff checks, the flop comes and Jeff (86.7%) bets 12,000 and Steve calls. The turn comes and Jeff (75.1%) bets pot and with hitting two pair and a great draw Steve calls and is ALL-IN. The river comes giving Jeff the full house and Steve with only two pair comes up short and Jeff becomes the HOHO Champion. Congrats to Jeff for his win and for coming back from the short stack with four left to winning it all, he was the executioner for much of the tournament with six eliminations for the night. The next tournament and season opener will be the 4th Annual Hangover Hold'em on New Years Day at 2PM. Your whole family is invited to this party and we will have chilli, hot cider and soda (maybe beer, if I get a kegerator for Christmas) and ask for you to bring a desert or appetiser. We wish all of you a Happy Holiday and hope to see you on New Years Day.

2007 Main Event Recap

The Main Event saw 22 of the 32 players who were qualified battle for the $2260.00 prize pool. There were $10 bounties on John Kern, Stevie Hay, Alex Federici, Beau Sierra, Chuck Hayes, Jeff Hicks and Jeff Proctor for winning an event during the year. Alex was taken out first by Jeff Hicks during the 3rd level, Alex couldn't get the luck train started. The second champion eliminated by was 20 minutes later and Jeff Proctor was sent packing by Chad Pedke. It was almost an hour later when Beau Sierra was tossed by Kristina 'Black Widow' Schultz at 9:30. There was a flurry of eliminations before the next champion was eliminated, within 15 minutes four people were walking the line including Jeff Hicks after going All-in against my two pair on the flop. It was fourty-five minutes before the next champion and league leader was eliminated which saw John 'The Angry Pilgrim' Kern being pummeled by Stevie's flopped straight against John's middle pair. That left only two champions in the tournement with the money spots closing in, six handed and at the bubble there was Iain Wilson, Stevie Hay, Kristina Schultz, Chuck Hayes, Chad Pedke and John Beyer. Iain being short stacked with the blinds at 4000/2000 couldn't take it any more and went All-in and Kristina called and Iain was sent a packing just short of the money. But that did not seem to help Kristina because twenty minutes later she was sent home by John Beyer taking home $210.00. Play was hot and heavy for fourty five minutes when Chad had enough of me pusshing my weight around and went All-in with AJos, unfortunately for him I was sitting on AQd and Chad went away grumbling and collecting $270.00. It was not long after that Stevie was All-in against John but his hand could not hold up and Stevie was sent to the ropes at 12:25AM in third place and $380.00. That left John against me and I was leading in chips by a 2:1 margin, but that did not seem to matter when the final hand was dealt after almost an hour of heads up play. With the blinds at 15,000/7,500 with a 1000 ante, John Beyer (Dealer/Sm. Blind) (60.2%) and Chuck Hayes (Big Blind) (39.3%) and I was slightly covered at this point. I go All-in and John calls, the flop comes and I (3.1%) am a big dog. The turn brings and is abolutely no help leaving me drawing dead on the river and John becomes Main Event Champion. With this win it also vaulted John into the league lead thus becoming the 2007 League Champion, although John had not won a tournament all year he made it to many final tables and was in second place prior to the Main. The Final league standings are John Beyer - 2815, Chuck Hayes - 2340, Stevie Hay - 1915, John Kern - 1895, Jeff Hicks - 1760 points. Congrats to John on his great accomplishment in the tournament and league. The next tournament will be the 3rd annual HO-HO Tournament, December 14th at 7PM, (Pot-Limit Hold'em and Pot-Limit Omaha), every blind level the game will change. Buy-in is $50.00 for 15,000 chips. Hope to see everyone this December. The League opener will be the 3rd Annual Hangover Hold'em Tournament, which will also be a meet and greet for the players families, we will have chilli and hot cider for everyone and ask that you bring a dish to pass and your own beverage. There will also be a Left-Right-Center game for the non-poker people, bring your dollar bills, not to mention some good college bowl games.
